A simple question!
I see there has been no driver update for nearly two months now.
Is surround sound working without any clicks on a Windowd 7 x64 and more than 4 GB RAM system? |

Oi mate
I assume you had issues in the past? What happened why do you ask?

Re: A simple question!
Well, I had a lot problems.
At first there was this problem with more than 4 GB Ram. Nothing worked. Quality was really bad. Then, with the next driver release, it was a little better. But I still had huge problem which made it impossible to use this driver. The main problem in Window 7 are the clicks starting after a few minutes after booting. I increased buffer size and tried all the workarounds. Nothing worked. In order to get rid of the clicks I had to use another output ( 2/3 or 4/5). With this setting the clicks were gone. However, it's only possible to have stereo sound with this setting which is unacceptable. Also the sound quality was really bad (a lot worse than Master output). So what I need is a driver that works in Windows 7 x64 with more than 4 GB Ram where Master output is selected so that I have surround sound without clicks. That would be awesome But I guess it's just not possible. Even the original Creative driver doesn't work with pcs having more than 4 GB Ram.

Re: A simple question!
I am also have this problem. SB220 and SB0060 doesn't work properly in Win7 x86 and x64, 2GB or 4GB ram. There are clicks and no right surrond expansion. (stereo expand into 4 channels). And also buffers magic settings does nothing.

Re: A simple question!
Why are you asking this? It doesn't matter.
If I have selected master as output I have surround sound but a lot of clicks => just plain unusable. If I select 2/3 or 4/5 there are a lot less clicks (they start after several hours). BUT the sound quality is awful and surround sound is not possible. So how can it help when we tell you what we have selected? It's really disappointing that neither kX driver nor the Creative driver work for Windows 7. |

Re: A simple question!
I asked because it has made a difference for others running KX and Win7, both 64bit and 32bit. (I'm one of the 32bit guys.......) Even if you aren't using a SPDIF output try "SPDIF" selected as master output and see if it works for you, it has for others and is what I am using.
Also there are several guys running 64bit with more than 4 gigs of ram and their only issue is ASIO 32 bit apps with the 64bit driver (64bit apps work fine)..... sound wise all is well. Make sure you use the 3550 driver package, anything earlier won't work with more than 2 gigs of ram. Hope this helps.

Re: A simple question!
I highly doubt that there is anyone using the 64 bit edition of Windows 7 and has no problems. Keep in mind we are still talking about surround sound and the clicking issue. Stereo with bad quality IS working. But I don't want stereo and I don't use digital output.

Hey, just trying to help, not argue or mislead anyone. If it's not going to work for you I'm sorry.

Re: A simple question!
Someone else can help unfortunately I haven't had much experience with Win7 as yet, all i can say is hopefully it isn't that you are using the default drivers and they aren't working well or I'd imagine switching from default device to "installed device". Other than that I would suggest going to the main site and talking with tech help or check the windows 7 help desk.

Re: A simple question!
Even if you are NOT using SPIDIF (digital output) change it to that in playback devices.
