??? Microphone problem

I have a question regarding the microphone. I set it up to work correctly (in skype), but I cannot make it not to hear the microphone in my headphones. It very annoying...

I muted the AC97 input in input/outputs page, but still I can hear the microphone input all the time. Here's some pictures of the configurations.

Re: Microphone problem

It should be muted on the AC97 page too (that slider is for stereo mix, and for monitoring via the AC97 codec (with some cards)).

Re: Microphone problem

First thanks for the quick response, but if I mute it on the AC97 page the microphone is fully disabled. The thing I want to achieve is that the microphone works and I did not hear its input in the speakers. For example when I'm using microphone in skype - on the other side of the line they can hear me, but I do not hear my speaking in the speakers. I think it's the normal way of normal skype conversation.

Re: Microphone problem

That should not disable the MIC.

I just noticed in the pic that you have the 'Analog Recording Gain' slider muted... Mute the 'MIC In' slider, and unmute the 'Analog Recording Gain' slider.

Re: Microphone problem

you mean like this -> http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/6926/ac97gainon.png, others settings (in/out, recording) are still the same.

that way mic is working, but i can hear the microphone thru the speakers.

just some clarification:

ac97 input is muted
ac97 recording level is set to 0db
ac97 recording gain on
ac97 mic input is off

skype is working, but I still can hear the microphone in the headerphones.

there's also some "listen" setting on the windows mixer, but it doesn't seem to do anything no matter what is set there. anyway here's the screenshot:

Re: Microphone problem

damn I finally fixed it!

it seems that when I enable something in AC97 page it automatically enables ac97 input.

thanks for the support and a happy new year.

anyway it seems like this Listen settings in the windows settings do something after all.

Re: Microphone problem

I use XP, so I do not know anything about the (Windows) mixer settings in Vista/7.

In any case, I am glad it is working for you now

...and Happy New Year!

Re: Microphone problem

just to clarify: to work correctly you need to disable the ac97 input on the ins n outs page?
cause the knowledgebase page says you should enable it, but it's also working right for me like this, so maybe it should be corrected

Yes, assuming that you do not want to monitor the AC97 signal in the DSP (or add DSP effects to the signal) then that slider should be muted (for MME recording of AC97).
