??? Newbie - Guitar effects + Midi/cd

Hi I am new to this KX stuff.
Thanks to all the people who made it.

I wondered if anyone would be good enough to send me your .KX setup file to get me started.
(or could point me to a web site where these might be available. I have spent hours searching.)

I have version 5.10.00.3533 kx drivers.
running on W2000 and with a SB live card ( CT 4620 10k1 [9000] )

I want some to add some effects to my guitar (o/drive / chorus / reverb / delay etc) - which is pluged into the Line-in, and also be able to play midi files or a CD at the same time as playing my guitar. (with or without effects on the midi / cd playback)

I have read the help for newbies and am still confused. I did manage to get some effects working with my guitar - but then the cd and midi stopped working. Also after installing the newer version of the kx drivers, I couldnt load my previously saved .kx setup file (with my guitar effects)

Any link to a "Setup for idiots" guide would also be helpful.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

first steps

Hi,

maybe this can help.
Look here to see the settings for a guitar setup:

http://www.hardwareheaven.com/showthre...threadid=18976

There's a link to a picture. The lower part is most important for U.

The first 2 channels of prolog are the Line-in channels. He is using them as 2 mono-channels.
U might want to use ist as 1 stereo-channel.

get familiar with the DSP part of kx an plug all your desired effects right after prolog.

U might want to record the signal too. So u should not remove the mixing-section like shown on
the picture. If U dont want to record U can connect directly to the desired channels on epilog.

Hope that helps a little.

It took me a while too. But now i love all the possibilities of kx.

Thumbs Up!

Thanks Guys.

Wilho - youre the man !

I Downloaded your presets and effects and it all works sweet (needed to plug my axe into the mic first)

I love the noisgate effect - it got rid of all the nasties on my Musicman Stingray II - which has an active pickup (preamp built into the guitar).

NB I did get a fair amount of distortion - which was probably just overloading of the mic input as a result of the active pickup. When turning the volume down on my guitar It went away. I may try plugging it into the line in - and re-route stuff.

Thanks heaps

NB: the CD and MIDI and MP3 all works as well.

PS: I am really gratefull for the developers for putting this stuff together - but I must say that the user interface could do with a major overhaul - its just too hard.
