Hello.
First of all I would like to apologize for any language mistakes I make. English is not my native language, although I use it a lot. Let me start by saying that I`ve been using kX drivers for more than 2 years now and I find my way around the software at least on a basic level. I use the drivers mostly for playing and recording electric guitar and I use them with Guitar Rig software. Also I use Propellerhead Reason, but since I don`t have a MIDI keyboard or any controller, latency is not an issue there. A couple of months ago I got my hands on a new computer and since then I can`t use the kX drivers as intended. This is the new configuration: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.20 GHz Gigabyte GA-M52L-S3 (no idea which rev.) Nvidia GForce 8600 GTS 256 MB GDDR3 Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 SB0220 (kX says it`s SB0222) 10k1 <- this is my old sound card from my old PC 3550 64 bit drivers 4 GB RAM (DDR2) and of course.. Windows 7 64 bit and now the problems: I used to get 4ms latency with my old PC (with kX ASIO, not ASIO4ALL) with the same sound card under WinXP (x86), which was perfect for playing the guitar. Since I started using Windows 7 64 bit I`m experiencing tons of problems, some of which are widely discussed in the forum. 1. Can`t seem to open the ASIO control panel both from kX menu and from Guitar Rig 4 (which IS 64 bit application) <- tried everything here from commands in Elevated Command Prompt Mode to modifying the registry. - This is the main problem. 2. I can`t see the sliders on the Master page in the kX mixer - again a widespread problem and I couldn`t figure this one out at all 3. This one`s nice - since I couldn`t use the kX ASIO (ASIO4ALL just can`t get that latency) I tried using the effects in the kX drivers to build a chain and play (recording at this point is out of the question). The chain is as simple as it can get: src (fxbus 6/7) ->k1it (rear out) So far so good. Then I put one of the E-FX in between, for example the EFX TubeDrive. Great, no problems there. But if I put ANY other effect outside of the EFX and try to open it (by double clicking or right click then Open) the whole system crashes. I can still move the mouse but that`s all I can do and the only thing that`s left for me to do is to punch the reset button. I`ve been spending a lot of time lately reading a lot of post to try and figure out the mentioned problems but I did not find anyone with the last one. Trust me when I say that I`ve been trying different ways to fix the ASIO problem since November using the different treads in the forum and the "FIXES" I find and every time it seems to get worse. Last time I had to reinstall the OS because kX Mixer wouldn`t load with Windows I`m posting this tread as a last resort. If there already is a universal fix for the ASIO panel and using the kX ASIO with 64 bit hosts PLEASE post the solution or a link to the tread. Also I would really like to solve the other two problems and I`ll appreciate any help. I like the kX drivers and the way they squeeze all the power out of that little sound card and I really want to be able to use them in the future. Respect. PS: I`m sure that you`ll need more information about my system to help me figure this out so please ask about anything you need to know. |
