Can't use AC97 <-> I2S Routing Mode
I'm looking for a way to record line input and mic input simultaneously. I'm on an x64 system, so I cannot use ProFX in this instance.
I'm informed that I2S routing is the only other solution. But... There is a problem. I am unable to select the IS2 routing mode in the AC97 config page. Why could this be? Any help greatly appreciated. |

I believe you need a 10K2 card to do that.

Well, that's a disappointment.
![]() So, with the card I have, on an x64 system, I'm prettymuch F'ed? |

One possibility, if your signals are mono, is to use (AC97) Stereo Mix and pan MIC to one side and Line In to the other.

Re: Can't use AC97 <-> I2S Routing Mode
I'm not worried about preserving the mic and line as separate tracks. This is for broadcasting, not recording. If I were to utilize your solution, I'd just monitor the line and mix at the appropriate volume levels, and then record from the stereo mix as the source. Technically, that works, but it also picks up any system sounds and playback. So, no good. Is there NO way to interact with the AC97 stuff in DSP? I sure can't find one.

Re: Can't use AC97 <-> I2S Routing Mode
No, you cannot really interact with the AC97 codec in the DSP. You can control some aspects of it from the AC97 page of kxmixer (or using ProFX:ADC), but not a lot. You can access the registers using kX Console (gac97/sac97), but of course you would have to know what each register is used for (which will depend somewhat on what codec your card uses), etc.
Whether system sounds will get recorded (using Stereo Mix) will depend on the codec your card uses (some codecs include DAC output, while others may not) and your DSP config. If you know which AC97 register controls the volume between the DAC and the AC97 mixer (might be register 18h), then you could just mute that register, but an easier workaround (aside from just muting wave, etc) is to just not send any signal to the DAC(s) that are being recorded (e.g. Disconnect the connections to Analog Front Out (and/or any other DAC(s) that are getting recorded) on epilog in the DSP).
