Windows 7 64bit + SB Live Platinum 5.1 + KX drivers
Hi all.
Iīve installed the 3550 64bit version drivers. Iīm new to Windows 7 64bit, but i have to use it, because of performance of my system. I used to be so happy with ASIO, software, my guitars and input of line2 of soundblaster... But thereīs no "full hardware acceleration" on windows 7, that is required so that this drivers work ok. I have glitches/ clicks sometimes, when watching youtube videos, when windows starts (thatīs right, that initial sound, with "clicks"), and i canīt open ASIO control panel. Also, software cannot recognize that. What should i do? |

I've got the same card and all works fine. You should read a little more here on the forums, start by increasing the buffers and switching to spdif as default device (that should fix the clicks).

Don't use Master Mixer as default Playback device in Windows. Master Mixer clicks/pops for me. If you make it work without clicking by tweaking buffers tell me how

@imperia......... Try SPDIF/AC3 output instead of Master Mixer, see if that works for you.

I don't know. The reason I ask is it's known for 32 bit apps to not work right in a 64 bit OS with KX drivers.

Re: Windows 7 64bit + SB Live Platinum 5.1 + KX drivers
I have the same problem with no kX ASIO available in Cubase 5 on my Phenom x4 64-bit with Windows 7. My version of Cubase 5 is located in the "Program Files (x86)" folder, that makes it a 32-bit application, right?`
The drivers work just fine for me, except the kX ASIO refuse to show up in Cubase 5. What am I doing wrong? I've spent many hours trying to configure this to no avail. I'm suspecting that the kXasio.dll is not recognized by Cubase. I've searched for it in the Windows registry editor (regedit) and there's a lot of keys containing for the Generic ASIO and DX Full Duplex drivers but not for the kX ASIO. Please someone, shed some light on the issue... I'm guessing it's a simple fix since when i install ASIO4ALL it is recognized by Cubase, and the kX drivers works flawless except for this. |

It sounds as though you are using the 32 bit version of Cubase. kX does not currently support 32 bit ASIO on 64 bit Windows. From what I have read (I do not have Cubase), your install CD should have both versions (32 bit / 64 bit), in which case I would suggest installing the 64 bit version.

try to use a different software, i donīt know if cubase fully supports 64bit. try cakewalk Sonar, itīs fully 64bit app.
and run kx project as "administrator", and it will work

Does this mean that kX ASIO is not working at all on my Windows 7 installation? It registers just fine with regsvr32... I'm baffled! I would really like to stick with the kX drivers, but I'm considering buying a more expensive sound-card right now.

But why can't I launch the kX ASIO control panel by straight from the kX tray-icon (right-click and select kX ASIO)? This indicates that kX ASIO is not running at all. When i try to launch it's control panel nothing happens. No ASIO window or dialog box shows up. Thanks for your comments and opinions! Much appreciated! |

Re: Windows 7 64bit + SB Live Platinum 5.1 + KX drivers
Try open kx project WITH "run as administrator" (right mouse click, and you have that option).
Because maybe your system is loading at startup kx project not as administrator. I know this was my mistake, and after doing it, i was able to run kx asio control panel. Anyway, only with a 64bit app, youīll be able to use it. |

It is as if kX ASIO is never loaded when Windows starts. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong? Is there under any special circumstances I should install the driver? Thanks for your efforts and comments. |

Re: Windows 7 64bit + SB Live Platinum 5.1 + KX drivers
Make sure you register the kxasio.dll using an elevated privilege level (i.e. from an elevated command prompt).
You might also try installing kX using an elevated privilege level (i.e. Run As Administrator). Note: Even if you are unable to open the ASIO Control Panel from kxmixer, this does not necessarily mean that you will not be able to do so from an ASIO host application, so make sure that you try with a native 64 Bit ASIO host. |
