kx and Band-in-a-box
Hello everyone. Im new on this forum.
I was lucky to get around the kx driver for my Audigity and found my headphones being able to deliver solid bass. They never did with SB drivers ![]() Well done! Now i have installed Band-in-a-box but I have a problem. How do I enable hardware synth (kx Synth SB0232 10k2)? The only way I can hear anything is via Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth which I believe is software emulation. In this mode I cant have latency lower than ~190 ms. In kx-manager Im running SPDIF/AC3 output as standard with swapped front/back. Regards, Nordskov |

Hi Nordskov:
Welcome to HardwareHeaven and the kX forum! What you are experiencing is a known and reported problem with Windows 7 x64 and the .3550 driver. The kXSynth just doesn't work correctly. You can also see this thread: Midi and x64 As a work around some of us are suggesting to use a software soundfont player until the issue is fixed. Cakewalk has fairly recently made the SFZ+ Professional soundfont player available for free. This was formerly an RGC Audio product. So if anyone is interested, you can go to the Cakewalk store and download the SFZ+ Professional soundfont player for free, along with some other free software instruments and effects (of which some of these were also commercial products). The link is below: Free Instruments: SFZ+ Professional Player Free Effects: Audio Effects

Also (in case you are not using the 64 bit version of kX), make sure that you have a soundfont loaded in kxmixer.

Re: kx and Band-in-a-box
Thanks thomasabarnes and Russ for a quick respons.
It's a shame Synth doesn't work in Win7 64 bit. Hopefully the team will come up with a solution. @ thomasabarnes: I'll try Cakewalks soundfonts and see what happens. @ Russ: I am using 64 bit kX. Does this version load the sound fonts at startup or whats the reason for destinguishing between the two? Would it be better/easier to use 32 bit kX? Regards |

This applies to any version of kX, but, as thomasabarnes indicated, people have reported problems with playback of the kX Synths with the 64 bit version of kX. Well, there are still some bugs that need to be worked out with the 64 bit version, but you cannot use a 32 bit driver with the 64 bit version of Windows, so easier does not really apply. |

![]() I did try the 4GMGSMT soundfont but ended up with the cracle and noise as described in the linked post. I want to make some practice backing tracks in Band-in-a-box. Not being able to listen "on the run" makes it almost impossible. Are there any workaround? |
