Mic-in and stereo device

Hi.

Can the mic-in of Live 5.1 using kxproject playback in stereo, if a stereo device using a stereo cable is connected?

As well is there a dedicated volume slider only for mic-in? So I can have different volume on mic-in than line-in.

The Mic In slider on the AC97 page doesn't have any affect while Mic Boost works.

Re: Mic-in and stereo device

Mic input on the card is a mono jack as far as I know, different if you have a front "live" drive bay..... (Dual function mono/mic or line2/stereo depending on volume control knob setting)

For different volume control over mic or line look on the ins and outs page of KX mixer.

This is only possible when using stereo/mono mix (it is a limitation of the AC97 codec).

Re: Mic-in and stereo device

Can the recording of Wave 0/1 device be routed to Wave 2/3 device?

As well the stereo/mono mix.

I do not understand what you mean...

Do you mean the playback of your recording?

Playback uses whatever device is chosen for playback in your recording application (or the Windows default device).

Re: Mic-in and stereo device

Ok.

What is stereo/mono mix then about? When I select either from the AC97 page my line-in sound stops.

I use Wave 2/3 and windows 7.

Btw Timbre and Bass enchancement via Timbre with the DSP only affects my Wave 2/3 device.

Re: Mic-in and stereo device

Stereo Mix means that the AC97 recording source is the AC97 mixer.

The sliders at the bottom of the AC97 page control what sources are routed to the AC97 mixer, as well as the volume levels of each source (so, to use stereo mix, you need to unmute each slider/source (at the bottom of the AC97 page) that you want to use, and set the volumes as you wish (thus you can set MIC and Line volumes independently (but it still probably will not work exactly like you want)). Again this is a limitation of AC97, so there is not much you can do about it (with 10k1 cards).

I do not know, but it is probably mono only. I know from looking at the docs for the AC97 codec used with my 10k1 card, that the codec can handle both mono and stereo MICs, but I do not know if the jack can, nor if kX supports it (there is no option in kX mixer for stereo MIC), etc.

Any simple way for me to test it?

I really want to know about this.

Re: Mic-in and stereo device

The Creative knowledge base shows the following pin info for the MIC jack:
(see Pin Assignment of I/O Jacks and Connectors on Sound Blaster Devices in the Creative Knowledge Base)
Mic-jack pins

Looks like it is mono only...
