are there any other sound card/driver that expose the DSP?
my ancient soundblaster 5.1 is aging and it simple doesn't have enough power to process all the channels with the DSP i want. looking for an upgrade... what other option do I have other than KX as the best chip supported look dated too, but I don't think non-KX sound card has driver that expose the DSP, am I right?
are we struck with these dated solution because of stupid manufacturer who doesn't care about geeks like me? ![]() if there is no other options, what card do you recommend and how many GPRs does it have? Last edited by akinkhoo; Jul 11, 2010 at 06:50 AM. |

The Audigy cards (10K2 based) will give you a larger DSP and use KX drivers...... You would have to find those used but they are reasonably priced on eBay. I use Audigy (1) Platnums, I have several along with the SB Live! cards in several systems, but the Audigy 2 ZS seems to be the favorite among KX users. Make sure the card is listed in the "compatable cards" list before you buy..... kX Project: Knowledgebase: kX Soundblaster Compatibility List Just because it says "Audigy" doesn't mean it IS one.... (Creative played some marketing games)
No other options I know of with this kind of DSP access.......

Wow $ $$$$,$$.$$
![]() KX looks wonderful after seeing those prices. For me KX has already been wonderful but my music systems are staying XP pro also. I'm not going to upgrade what works just because a new OS comes along.

Re: are there any other sound card/driver that expose the DSP?
I have both in one computer, but my scope fusion is based on an old "pulsar" card with "only" 4 sharc DSPs and running scope fusion 4. I donīt remember exactly what I payed years ago on ebay, but it was not very expensive. Among other things it gives me AES/EBU and 2 Adat ins and outs.
I agree, but than again Iīm not limited to one computer. But at least one machine will have 32bit xp for maximum kx compatibility for a while. At the moment I see no reason to bother with win7 yet at all. Although it would be nice to have a Mac for Logic and Final Cut, too, but not as the only machine. |
