10K1 CD_IN AUX_IN TAD Mic In Line In to ASIO?
Hello all,
First off, I have a Live! card and Live! Drive, the 10K1 one. I can't say that I'm new to kx, I've been using it for years for the ASIO on Mic In 2 on the Live! Drive, but I never really got deep into the whole routing thing either. I recently upgraded my system, but kept the Live! card. So now I figure it would be pretty awesome to take advantage of all the possible inputs available on my Live! card, that is, to route the internal CD_IN, AUX_IN, TAD, the back plate Mic In, and Line In to separate ASIO channels. That's like 5 extra recording channels to the Mic In 2 on the Live! Drive. Awesome right? I went digging around the documentation and played around a bit with a mic and found that the AC97 input seems to mux all these inputs into one and only one input is available at any given time, or so the kx AC97 page has me believing. And thus I've revealed my routing noobiness/ignorance. So is this even possible? All inputs to ASIO? Or at least how can I achieve the max number of simultaneous recording channels? I also have on-board sound as well so I guess I could daisy chain something in there too. I'm open to all options. Thanks! jbrocker |

Re: 10K1 CD_IN AUX_IN TAD Mic In Line In to ASIO?
Just a quick addendum. I realize now that I can get 4 mono channels or 2 stereo channels via Mic In 1 and Mic In 2 (6 and 3 if I daisy chain my on board Mic In via SPDIF), but I'd still like someone to say definitively that teasing out the AC97 inputs into separate and simultaneously usable inputs is possible or not.
Another question, on the first generation Live! Drive is it possible to somehow hack access to the AUX 2 physical analog input, like solder something onto the board, or is the first gen missing the ADCs? Perhaps with the proper white paper info it's possible hack on a daughter card with four inputs and ADCs and make use of AUX 2 and Unknown 10K1. Any takers? Cheers, jbrocker |

Re: 10K1 CD_IN AUX_IN TAD Mic In Line In to ASIO?
Arrgh... one last thing. All this talk of mono channels has me searching for a circuit diagram to combine the two mono signals into a stereo signal so I can take advantage of said stereoism. Unfortunately, all the searches keep turning up stereo to mono circuits or line combiners. I can find actual products in online stores, but I want the circuit dam it! I'm pretty sure just straight up twisting all the grounds together and the L and R to L and R would be bad. So somebody please advise.
Many more thanks! jbrocker |

Re: 10K1 CD_IN AUX_IN TAD Mic In Line In to ASIO?
best you can do with ac97 is two mono channels
I have two mic pre-amps with grounds tied together, one to left and one to right on the line-in - no problems here |
