connecting external i/o drive
Hi everybody
I own an audigy 2 zs drive for a long long time ago. Today i bought an external i/o drive very cheap, but i didn't get the cables. Creative Wereldwijde Ondersteuning This is what i'm talking about. Now, i understand that there are the AD_LINK1 and AD_LINK2 connectors. From what i understood from the links, AD_LINK1 connects to the midi port, while AD_LINK2 to the firewire port. I couldn't find what are the functionalities of these 2 ports. I could find easily a firewire 1394 cable to connect AD_LINK2, but what will not function then without AD_LINK1 ? Do you know where could i find AD_LINk1 cable ? Or at lest the pinout of the AD_LINK1 connector ? Thanks in advance. |

Re: connecting external i/o drive
Okay, I've found an IEEE1394 cable and connected the firewire port of the soundcard with the external hub. The power led lights up, but no button is working. I've tried with it's original software, no change.
I think the AD_LINK1 cable is necessary too, not just the AD_LINK2. |

Re: connecting external i/o drive
I don't have one of these, but Yes, you need the other cable.... The AD-Link1. It connects to it's own proprietary port on the card, just above the firewire port on the card, not the "MIDI" port..... MIDI on this card would go through the "joystick" port which is a separate bracket. No idea what the pinouts are for the AD_Link1 and other than a possible find on eBay, not sure where you would get one.

Re: connecting external i/o drive
Then it looks like the hub is not compatible with my soundcard. I have an sb350 which is the audigy 2 ZS (but not platinum edition).
I thought that I can connect with the soundcard, but i don't have the AD_LINK1 port, only the firewire port |

Re: connecting external i/o drive
It could be that it's not compatible, or that you need a daughter card the connects to the 40 pin header....... Not sure which I/O box you have.

Re: connecting external i/o drive
It is the one presented here.
However, the sb card is the 0350 model. Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro: External Sound : DTS and 7.1: Creative Audigy 2 Platinum Pro |

Re: connecting external i/o drive
That I/O isn't compatible....... At least not without a lot of work and pinout for both card and box.... even then, not everything may work.
