Does WASAPI exclusive output work at all with the kX drivers under Windows 7?
I tried various players and audio apps under Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) with WASAPI output, but all of them refuse to work in exclusive mode. I always get an error that the format is unsupported.
Is WASAPI (exclusive mode) supported or not with the latest kX drivers [3550]? |

Re: Does WASAPI exclusive output work at all with the kX drivers under Windows 7?
I tested WASAPI exclusive mode using xmplay - XMPlay with the WASAPI plugin Download xmp-wasapi.zip
if I turned on exclusive mode, and turned off "use highest available resolution" in the WASAPI plugin, WASAPI playback would only work if I set the resolution to 24bit or 32bit - 16bit resolution gave me the same error you get so ... yes it is supported ... you just have to know WASAPI exclusive mode limitations

Re: Does WASAPI exclusive output work at all with the kX drivers under Windows 7?
- Are you using a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7?
- Are you using the latest kX drivers (v3550)? - Are you using the Master Mixer or S/PDIF as default device? - Is your card EMU 10k2 - based (with a p16v chip)? - Are you using the default kX DSP settings? - Are you running the audio player (XMPlay) with administrator privileges? - What sample rate do you use for output in XMPlay? - Did you enable the software resampler in XMPlay? I tried Foobar 2000 with the WASAPI plugin (with resampling enabled in the DSP and set to 48kHz), but it doesn't work (all of the bitdepth settings produce an error message). I also use XMPlay, since it's shared WASAPI mode is the only output that works for now and provides decent quality. Exclusive mode doesn't work (it only works with my onboard Realtek sound chip). I also tried the latest WASAPI plugin (has even more options) and the latest beta build of XMPlay, but I still get this *&^% error message. Last edited by nakamichi; Oct 18, 2010 at 05:16 PM. |

Quote:
latest xmplay + wasapi plugin 96000, 48000 and 44100 sample rate all work running in user mode, i.e NOT administrator software resampler no enabled emu10k2 (SB0350) kx 3550 default device SPDIF xmplay wasapi exclusive mode works no matter which device I select - even Master Mixer HOWEVER, one thing I had to do for another program was disable WaveHQ playback and recording devices - not sure if that's significant edit: just tested with waveHQ enabled (but not selected) - works fine
