Hello. Not sure if bug, but... I have a problem with your KX Driver. The mixer resets the "AC97 source" option to the "Line-In" item each time I restart my computer, so I have to set it up manually to a "Microphone" option every time I want to use my headset for some games, skype, etc. This thing infuriates me. Is there any ways to fix it? I tried to find a responsible registry key for that setting, but all of them have an unreadable names, so I've given up.
OS: Win XP SP3 x86 Soundcard: Live 5.1 Digital (SB0220) Driver version: 3550 P.S. I tried to reinstall the driver many times and it didn't help. P.P.S. Sorry for my English. P.P.P.S. Front to Rear output swap option resets in the same way too. |

Re: "AC97 source" option resets to "Line-in" after each system restart
I do not remember that being an issue (I cannot test it ATM), so I wonder if there is a problem (on your system) with kX saving settings when shutting down, or restoring settings when starting up (are you using any startup manager or registry monitor type programs?)
Are other settings saved/restored correctly? Make sure that the RUN key in the registry shows: kX Mixer: kxmixer --startup (note the "--startup" tells it to restore settings) The registry entry for the AC97 source setting is reg_26 under the AC97 subkey (e.g. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\kX\Config\SB0220 10k1 [xxxx]\ac97). IIRC, a value of 0x0 would be for MIC, and 0x404 would be Line In. Note that (IIRC) the values shown in the registry do not change until kX Mixer saves settings, so check the values after quitting kxmixer. The Swap Front and Rear setting would be swap_f_r under the hw_params subkey (0 = not swapped, 1 = swapped). Note: The above (reg key info) is from a much older version of kX, I am not 100% sure it is exactly the same in recent versions of kX. Also, if your DSP is saved/restored correctly, then (as a workaround) you can always use ProFX:ADC for your AC97 stuff instead, and you can swap the connections to epilog so that front and rear are the way you want it , etc. Last edited by Russ; Oct 23, 2010 at 03:41 AM. |

I restored that autorun entry for kxmixer, as you recommended, and all the problem settings statred to work properly. The point is that I removed that entry back then, because I don't like when some applications are consuming my cpu power, increasing the start up time and all, so I lurked the forum a bit more and I've found out that there's another command line option called "--once" that tells the kxmixer to unload right after the start up process and it works well for my case. Thank you!
