Noise, popping, static, FIXED !
I first want to say thank you to the programmers that put this project together, it made my day when I found a way to get my Sound Blaster Live Value ct4670 card running in Windows 7 32 bit, as it has always been a great card and it still works !
I tried everything I could think of to get the ct4670 to work then found the kxproject and all my troubles were solved and I now have sound in my old school Windows 7 32 bit box I built ! ![]() One problem I was having was an odd noise and popping sound coming from the sound card in Windows 7 32 bit, but all was good in Windows XP 32 bit with the native Creative Labs drivers, so it had something to do with the kx drivers, and after reading on the forums and trying different settings, I finally got her fixed and it is clearest sound than I have ever heard out of this card ! ![]() Here is what I ended up changing, I changed kxmixer "speaker setup" to 2.1 with surround "off" and "stereo only", then went over to Windows 7 "sound" in control panel and set the "default device" to "wave out 2/3" and the weird popping noise and staic went away completly ! It was set to "master mixer" and if I switch it back to "master mixer" I get the noise and popping but on 2/3 or 4/5 etc it is clear as a bell ! Also if you install the kx drivers and still can't get sound out of the speakers, try reversing the front and rear outputs in kxmixer and try plugging the speakers into the other jack on your sound card. Just thought I would share my experience with the kx drivers in Windows 7 on the ct4670 card that it might help someone else in the future. Thanks again for the hard work you guys put into this project ! Slydog

Re: Noise, popping, static, FIXED !
Glad you got it figured out...... The "Master Mixer" is broken in Win7, as you found out. Some guys have been using the SPIDIF/AC3 output with great success, You may want to compare that to 2/3 and see if there's any change.
The swap front and rear has been part of KX for a long time but it seems much of the documentation that explained this is old/outdated/or just missing from the net these days. With an older card like yours, switching jacks is better, the rear jack has improved sound, with the newer cards there is a check box to switch this in software as there's no difference in the hardware between the jacks..... it's on the KX mixer main page, default is "rear" jack. Also FYI... the speaker test is also broken in Win7 if you should try it and see errors, it's not a problem with KX or your card..... Moot point once everything is working, but a lot of guys try this and figure it's another problem they need to "fix". Enjoy!
