Audigy 4 partially supported - What exactly doesn't work?
I'm currently looking to buy a backup card in case my current Audigy 2 ZS would bite the dust (and the Audigy cards are still somewhat possible to find 2nd hand) and one guy was offering me an Audigy 4 but I'm wondering exactly what is not working. I only want to be able to use it for basic tasks such as music/gaming/movie watching and be able to use the plugins and microphone and that's about it.

You should be fine, I think what's not supported is the p17v passthru....... kX supports the p16v. This would have no effect for what you are doing. I have an Audigy 4 SB00610 and basic functions are fine.

Re: Audigy 4 partially supported - What exactly doesn't work?
I suppose it would just be a waste of money pay the price premium for it over Audigy 2 ZS if only intending to use the analog out (headphones), that's what some quick searching suggests, like no changes for the components made, so no change in sound quality.

Audigy 4 pro may have slightly better sound quality, I believe it has better op-amps but if it's "pricey" not really
