4 channel SPDIF
I use 4 speakers in analog output by the front and rear. I was reading you can maybe do this with spdif 4 channel instead. I don't think this is supported but is possible?
Also I installed the 3542 as they included AC3 passthrough, and I have a simple PC. Usually using AC3FILTER set to SPDIF causes the immediate rebooting of the system, but it actually worked set to SPDIF and ac3 passthrough mode was also set in the mixer. I don't know about DTS yet, but read elsewhere this is not possible. I did do that however in Linux. I am a bit confused about how resampling and bit depth conversions occur within the DSP. |

Re: 4 channel SPDIF
Actually I came across the 4 channel spdif issue when reading about the live card history and at one point I think they had a 4.0 sound setup around it. But it does seem that SPDIF can hold either 2 or 4 channel audio data as per:
