Digital only output

Hi, guys

The driver is cool but there's one problem on my SB live! Value I can't solve
Kx mixer does not allow uncheck the "digital only output" setting
In DSP epilog all analog pins are muted and I can't do anything to unmute them !

Only digital rear pins are giving sound output (black jack on the card)

Why does it happen ?

What version of kX are you using?

Your card does not have a DOO switch so kX should not show that option (but it is a known issue with some versions of kX (e.g. 3541)).

I do not know if Eugene ever fixed that issue (I do not see it mentioned in the changelog), but if you are using an old version of kX, I suggest trying 3545b or newer.

Only Wave 4/5 works. All other outputs are useless with kx driver

Doo is set to 1 when saved to a .kx file

It's seems like the op is just confused by "Swap Front/Rear" stuff
(Notice the "black jack" is the analog rear output).

just in case, k0st could you please give more details about your card model number (i.e. CT0xxx?) so we could say for sure.

I can't be sure - but considering that the "swap f/r" and "2.1 speakers" are default options - it is the analog rear output which will only work by default whatever you play. So to me it looks like it has nothing to do with DOO - but just an initial confusion by kX's default settings (yet again "swap" and "2.1")

Windows 2008 R2 x64
additional system - XP 32 bit. same thing

Yes, I also thought black must be analog , but i'm describing in terms of DSP window

I deleted all default items from there, then added FXBus and Epilog. nothing more

Then I connected FXBUS 8004/8005 to Digital Rear Left/Right
No sense if it swapped or not
In both cases output is routed to black analog 3"5 jack

Any other outputs of Epilog (both starting with the word "Analog" or "Digital") do not produce any output to any analog jacks and all "Analog" outputs are "muted"

It seems like something very wrong in the driver on my card
May be schematics of this card is something different than driver expects ?

kX Mixer really should not show DOO option (or it should at least not be able to be checked/enabled) on the Main page on kxmixer for that card, however, it is still possible that your issue is not related to DOO.
e.g.
There may just be something screwy with AC97 settings, etc.

I would try resetting AC97 (button on AC97 page of kxmixer) and if that doesn't help, try a Reset Device Settings (under Settings menu).

If that works, try rebooting and see if it still works.

Beyond the above, (I do not know if this will work), you could try changing the DOO value (to 0x0) in your saved config file. Then reload that config, and reset AC97 (if necessary).

Was the DOO option checked by default when you installed kX? If not, you could try a Reset Global Settings, or maybe do a full uninstall/reinstall.

Tried everything you mentioned with no luck
When loading with doo=0 and saving it again doo in the file = 1. doo=1 is forced and cannot be disabled
I suppose driver was not tested on my type of card

Luckily for the moment I do not require from my card anything than just a stereo output, but It could be usefull If all features worked

As I can see there's very little chance anybody will be fixing this
Creative x64 beta driver has serious memory leaks and may not work on win 7 family OS
Are you aware of another alternative drivers ?

It is still hard to say for sure if the problem is related to DOO, but from your description it does sound like it.

Do you see any pins indicating that they are for analog rear anywhere on epilog?
(On many cards with DOO, analog rear is renamed to digital rear (when DOO is enabled), so if DOO is enabled (or kX thinks it is), you probably would not see analog rear. Additionally the sliders on the In's and Outs page (top) are renamed (e.g. Analog Front becomes Digital Front, etc)). This really should not apply to your card, but...

Actually many people used to have/use these cards with kX.
It seems that this problem may have started with version 3541 (but I cannot say for sure).
You might consider trying something like version 3538m (with Windows XP 32 bit) or maybe even an older version of kX, just to see if it works (and it would be good to be able to confirm that all your analog outputs work (e.g. there is not some hardware issue), etc).

No output !

I come to conclusion my card is half-dead. May be Ac97 chip died
The only thing working is stereo output through alternate DAC with Kx driver.
OK, I'm happy with this for now. If I ever need more I'd rather buy Audigy SE for 6-7$ =)

...and looking through the forum, there are still people using CT4832 with kX...
