Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
This may be a difficult one but maybe someone has ideas.
I play out live using a laptop (PIV 3.0 & 2G Ram), multitrack software and an A2ZSNB running KX. The problem occurs with both 3550 & 3551A. My setup has the "band" on one pair of outs, the Drums on another pair of outs, the "Kick" on another pair and finely the effects return on another pair. I'm using all 8 outs. What happens is the maybe 3 times a night, & this is 3 times too many, something will happen to cause the drums, band & kick to go out of sync with each other. REAL BAD. The only fix is to stop the song. Restarting the song gets things back. No need for reboot or anything. It SEEMS to happen when the scroll bar for the software gets to the end and the screen changes. I've tried every setting in XP that I can think of.Does anyone have any Ideas as to settings either in XP or KX that I can try? Needless to say this really sucks on stage. Thanks. |

Re: Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
If it seems to be associated with the screen scrolling is there a way in your software to zoom out, so the whole song is displayed before starting to play? It may be a "workaround" but it's the only thing I can think of....... Sounds more like a DAW issue than a driver problem.

Re: Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
Yea I hear ya. I can only zoom out about 50 bars. I really have 3 partial screens showing in the program. One shows words, one is the tracks view showing wave form and has a scroll line and the 3rd is a chord sheet tthat shows measures and chords and it to has a moving black box that scrolls. Of course there's no issue if I only use one out from KX. This leads me to believe that it isn't the program that's going out of sync. With shared video Ram anything is possible. If we could keep discussing this maybe some little tweak will get it fixed. Out of 60 songs a night it only happens a couple of times.

Re: Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
With only one out there would be nothing to go out of sync, would there? Or am I getting confused about what you're saying there..... (no doubt, as I'm often confused.

Re: Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
What I mean is if all 10 tracks are all assigned to go to one pair in KX if it was the program somehow glitching you should hear out of sync tracks. That's why I believe it has to be the KX outs going out of sync.

Re: Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
Okay..... I agree it's the outputs going out of sync, but it's being caused by the program. KX multi track doesn't "normally" go out of sync as far as I know.......
To be totally honest I use multi track inputs with KX...... Two cards and all that. I've never used multi track outputs, but this is the first I've read about this issue. That's why I say it's not the drivers causing this..... though they are certainly allowing it to happen. What happens if you do multi track without the effects return...... Just band/drums/kick. Does it still go out of sync? (I realize it's not going to sound right, just trying to eliminate things)

Re: Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
Let me unload mygear this afternoon and I'll check that out.
BTW in device manager under hidden drivers/non plug & plug there's a bunch of Creative stuff. I think I should get rid of this? |

Re: Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
I never had any problems that I could relate to those misc creative drivers so I'm not sure if it would help/hurt to remove them.

Re: Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
I know I should only do one thing at a time but I need to fix this. I disabled those drivers. I zoomed all the way out thus slowing down the scroll bar and I disabled the internal sound card. So far I've gone through 3 sets without any issues. The test will be Tuesday when I play out again.

Re: Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
Cool, good luck with that......... you know if it works flawless at home but not at the club, there's always power issues to consider. I know you are using a laptop and they have batteries, but what's the rest of your gear like?

Re: Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
It glitches as much at home as at the club. What makes this so hard to diagnose is that it only happens randomly like 2-3 songs out of 50. And not the same songs.

Re: Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
After some research there is a SPECIAL way to completely remove all traces of the Creative junk. I did that then deleted these entries as well and did a manual search of the registry and deleted that stuf as well. I bet this solves all problems I've been having.

Re: Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
Nope didn't cure it. I even switched to my new computer a Win7x64 machine and Sunday it went out once. Last night it was terrible. I had to resort to just one pair to finish the night. If I can't sort this out my next thing to try will be to have the 3 wav outs go to a Mixy 4 and then to a single out. This way I won't have to remix all the songs. I'm just wondering though if it's the HW outs going out of sync or the individual wav files going out.

Re: Multitrack Audio Goes out of Sync
Another thought just ocurred to me.
All of my songs are at 44.1/16bit. Could the fact that KX is locked at 48/16bit be the culprit? Thanks |
