No Audio ZSNES
I have kxdriver setup on my HTPC. I am swapping the Rear and Front. When i load up ZSNES it wants to use the front no matter what. Any ideas on what i can do to change this?

Simple answer, don't swap front and rear. Which card are you using? There may be no reason to do the swap front/rear if you have a "newer" card. It's a hold over from the early Live! cards...... the output hardware design improved and the swap was no longer really needed.

Re: No Audio ZSNES
Ok. I changed Surrounder+ to 2.0 Surround and downmixed to 2.1. Seems to have done the trick. Sounds a tad hallow though.

Re: No Audio ZSNES
In another post you mentioned that you are using a digital speaker system, is that still the case?
AFAIK, Swap Front and Rear should not affect the digital connections (I could be wrong (I cannot check with my card ATM), but I do not see the point in swapping the digital connections)... BTW: There is an issue with the routing of stereo audio with Master Mixer, that may also affect which speakers stereo audio gets routed to. Last edited by Russ; Feb 28, 2011 at 06:04 AM. |

Re: No Audio ZSNES
I am not completely sure what you mean when you say that it always wants to use the front...
Are you saying that you do not get sound from the rear at all? Regardless of the swap front and rear setting? I suspect that it may have something to do with the routing bug I mentioned previously, but I cannot say for sure without more info. e.g. What OS? What Surrounder+ settings? Which device is set as the default? If I had to guess, I would guess that the routing bug is causing stereo audio to use FxBus 4/5 (which would make the swap front and rear setting seem to work opposite of what you expect). Since it sounds like your are only using stereo speakers(?), then you might consider setting Wave 2/3 as the default device instead of Master Mixer. Last edited by Russ; Feb 28, 2011 at 06:58 AM. |

Re: No Audio ZSNES
Everything else is fine. Just ZSNES. If i plug the speakers into the Front. The sound comes out just the same.
I have my surrounder+ settings set to 2.0 Surround and 2.1 speaker setup. This fixed the issue, somewhat. Sounds a bit lacking. If the sound quality out of the Audigy 2 zs is the same from front or rear, I will gladly just use it normally. I was always under the impression the rear was better. It always sounded better, but it could just be me thinking that. Windows 7 x32 2gigs of memory. |

Re: No Audio ZSNES
I do not know why it would only affect ZSNES, but it does sound like it is because of the routing issue (you could verify this by connecting peak plugins to FxBus 0/1, 2/3, 4/5, and 6/7, to see which one's the audio from ZSNES is using).
It would sound different because (Surrounder thinks it is the rear channel (or possibly the center/lfe channel if it is using FxBus 6/7), and thus) it is affected by Surrounder's control's (e.g. amount, width, etc). (If it is using FxBus 4/5) Setting Width to 0 will probably make it sound better, or you could use Copy instead of Surround. But, again, if your speakers are stereo only, then you might as well use Wave 2/3 (or AC3/SPDIF) as the default. That should fix the problem with ZSNES,without causing any problems with your other programs. Last edited by Russ; Feb 28, 2011 at 09:03 PM. |
