Can I try KxProject on this Computer?
Hello,
I recently stumbled across KxProject when a friend showed me "this new great thing" on his computer, unfortunately he was not able to give me any more detailed information. 1. I have aRealtek ALC655 @ ATI SB400 - AC'97 Audio Controller in my computer, no idea if it has this EMU10k1 chip, and the full list of supported boards here: http://kb.kxproject.com/list.html does not work. Can anyone tell me if the kxdriver will work with the ALC655? 2. actually I'm quite satisfied with the sound performance of my machine, so I don't think it needs new drivers, but I'd like to have realtime audio effects in audio/video editing (using audacity and avidemux). can the kx effects be used in such a way? OS: WindowsXP yours, Hans |

Re: Can I try KxProject on this Computer?
No, KX won't work on that or any of the realtek chipsets. Sorry the list isn't working, a lot of the old info seems to have gone missing. In short, the EMU 10k1 chips were found on most, but not all, of the Sound Blaster Live! cards and the 10K2 chips were on the Audigy (1-4) cards. Some of the EMU cards were supported also.
You could pick up an older Sound Blaster Live! or Audigy pretty cheap used, stick it in a PCI slot on your motherboard and try KX out that way, but if the realtek is working for you it would be more of an "interesting" thing to do than it being necessary.
