Live 5.1 Front, Rear and 2.1

Hi.

Please which can be the best choise at selection of outputs from Live 5.1 for 2.0 sats and seperate subwoofer connection?

I have read that Analogue Front Out and Analogue Center/LFE of Live 5.1 are controlled by AC97 codec and Rear by I2S codec.

Please does Analogue Front Out with Analogue Center/LFE have any differances?

Re: Live 5.1 Front, Rear and 2.1

It depends on the specific model.

e.g.
My Live! 5.1 (SB0228) has a 6 channel AC97 codec (STAC9758), and does not have any I2S codec, so all outputs are the same.

Look at kX's "About..." info to see which AC97 codec your card uses (under "----Hardware / Software configuration---------------").

If it is a 4 channel codec (like STAC9708), then your card probably has the I2S codec, and you would probably want to use the rear output (for your satellites), with kX's swap option enabled. If unsure, then just use the rear (as it should be the same or better).

AFAIK, there should not be any difference with the other 2 outputs (other than headphone support, which is usually only on analog front).

Re: Live 5.1 Front, Rear and 2.1

I own 2 Live 5.1 cards.

STAC9758 SB020
STAC9708 SB0060

One yes has STAC9708.

I think the other one (
SB020) has an 6 channel AC97 codec as your card.

Re: Live 5.1 Front, Rear and 2.1

So you would probably want to use the rear output on the SB0060 and with the other card ("SB020" ?), it should not matter.
