Win7: login sound plays, then nothing

Hi, I have Windows 7 x64 SP1 with SB Live Value! and KxDrivers 3550 x64

I hear a startup sound when I log into Windows but then I can't hear anything, no matter what I choose (until I reboot and login again). I see the waveform going up and down in the audio tray icon but hear nothing. I've tried Master Mixer and SPDIF/AC3 and other audio devices and turning on and off digital and swapping front/back and changing speaker settings (2.0/2.1/5.1 surround on/off etc.), but never hear anything except when logging in.

I had this problem before on a previous Windows installation and got it to go away eventually by futzing with settings, but I've been trying for a few hours this time and no luck.

Any ideas?

BTW, can moving my sound card to a different PCI slot make a difference?

Well, sort of..... First: there have been issues with some cards and moving to a different slot fixed it, but that's usually the card not being recognized at all. Second: if you switch slots you will be asked to "reinstall" the drivers because KX device not found. This may be a good thing.

You could also Reset device settings, or global settings by right clicking on the KX icon in the tray. I would try this first, if no improvement then it wouldn't hurt to switch slots.

Thanks a ton, I tried Reset Device settings and then Reset Global settings and now 5 minutes later it just works!!

It continues working even after reboot.
