Noob questions

So I'm using Windows 7 x64 KXDrivers 3550 with SB Live! Value and I happen to be using the SPDIF/AC3 output device

I have a few questions:

1. I only have left & right speakers, is it OK if I'm using 5.1 Speaker mode with Surround off and "5.1 Direct Path" preset? I also have front/rear reversed. Is this the way it should be?

2. I have my speakers plugged into the black hole which means digital I think, yet I only hear sound when "Digital only" is disabled! Why is that?

You would probably be better off using a 2.0 setting, like 2.0 Surround Mix.

With that card, swapping front and rear is probably best.

The digital out jack is usually orange/yellow... black is usually analog rear.

Thanks, I followed your advice except I used 2.1 Speaker Mode (KXMixer doesn't offer 2.0) and 2.0 Surround Mix preset.

Yeah there are no modes labeled as ".0", but any ".1" mode with "Use subwoofer output" not enabled is ".0"
