problem with microphone

hey guys,

i've got a little problem with the dsp-configuration...

i use kx3550 with a sb4830 and win7 x64, the dsp-config as following:

src(fxbus2/3) --> mx6(ch1/2 to main out) --> k1lt(analog front out)
src(ac97mic) --> mx6(ch3/4 to main out) --> k1lt(analog front out)

the problem is that the microphone only works when DOO option is checked in k1lt, otherwise there is no reaction in the mx6...but when the DOO is checked, there is no sound at all, when i uncheck it, the sound works but no reaction of the mic in mx6...

what am i doing wrong...can someone help me?

With some cards, enabling DOO changes the AC97 source, and this can cause issues with ProFX (i.e. ProFX settings go out of sync with kxmixer settings).

e.g.
With my SB0228, when I enable DOO, the AC97 source is changed to Stereo Mix with all (except TAD) inputs to the AC97 mixer enabled.

If it is the same with your card, then it is possible that the signal you are seeing in MX6 (when DOO is enabled) is from somewhere else (i.e. not the MIC).

Try disabling DOO mode, then reset AC97, then re-select AC97 MIC in ProFX:SRC.

Note: The bundled version of ProFX is pretty old and may contain bugs (and may not be fully compatible with recent kX versions). I am not sure what version is included with the 64 bit version of kX, but it has been a while since ProFX:SRC was used for AC97 signals (recent versions used ProFX:AC97 or ProFX:ADC (see if you have one of those plugins)). For now, you are probably better off just using prolog and epilog, etc, instead of ProFX.

Beyond the above, verify that your MIC is (fully) connected to the correct jack on the sound card.

Hey Russ, first of all, thanks for your answer... i have tried the reset as you wrote but nothing changed... you are right, this issue seems to be connected to the ProFX-plugins...when i use the normal kX-settings (prolog, epilog etc.) everything works fine...it's quite a pity...i always used proFX before (2 other computers, one XP32, the other 764) and imho they are way more comfortable btw. the mic is connected correctly and the signal that is shown in mx6 when DOO is enabled is the actual mic-signal (you can see peeks when you tap it or speak into it...it reacts how it should when a mic is connected...) i've also read somewhere that the profx-version that is bundled with the driver is quite outdated so i tried to use the 3.11 proFX from Lex's site, but for some reason this didn't work...the error message was something like missing program file as i tried to load the .kxl-file...is there a solution for that? I haven't tried the 3551 alpha yet...do you think that this could help? thanks again sik

Currently there is no 64 bit version of ProFX (aside from the old bundled version).
3551 Alpha is not gonna help (might even be worse)....
