Please are op-amps components on soundcards, or on amplifiers as well?

Op-amp, or Operational ampliflier, is a basic "gain block" that is far older than soundcards.
The grand-daddy of them all is the 741
The 741 Op-Amp

By modern standards, its performance was appaling, and in the early days, so was its price
