so, has the popping and clicking w/Audigy 2 and Vista/7 been sorted out?

... or Am I going to have to roll back to XP + KX for my audio work?

I'm backing up my files as I type this. I have an Audigy2 SB0350 with worked beautifully for years with KX drivers under XP. About a month ago, I finally "upgraded" to Vista (now that the latest Nvidia drivers no longer BSOD Vista) and got the dreaded pop/click crap out the Audigy. I'm ready to throw in the towel and drop XP back on this aging machine of mine (3.4GHz P4 prescott socket 478, 2GB RAM, etc) and get back to work making music.

I've tried the latest KX drivers (3550) and just couldn't get it to stop making noises.

I've got about 3 hrs left before the backup is done. I'll check back then to see what you guys are saying.

As long as you don't use Master Mixer output device it should work fine, no popping here with Audigy 2 ZS on Win 7 x64. Try switching to SPDIF/AC3 Output device.

Re: so, has the popping and clicking w/Audigy 2 and Vista/7 been sorted out?

Just edit buffer settings and all clicking noise will be gone in master mixer
check picture i added on bottom.
Restart of PC might be required but poping sound is gone for sure.

AW: so, has the popping and clicking w/Audigy 2 and Vista/7 been sorted out?

Can confirm that.

For me it works with only slightly enlarged buffer (10ms).

Have 3551a running on Win7x64.

For some systems the buffer trick works and for some it doesn't..... SPDIF/AC3 works all the time, but it only does stereo.

Where are these settings located? I have been unable to find ANY settings to edit buffers. I hope you are refering to Windows 7...

I am using PAX 3.10 for my Audigy 2 (SB0240). I now know that clicks and pops are due to buffers but I can't find an option to change them...

PAX doesn't have buffer settings, neither does Win7. Is something KX drivers have. Changing buffer size has worked for some, but not for everybody. It's not a cure all.

Tyrsonswood, that is not an answer to Silkman's question.
The answer to the question "Where are those settings located" is:

Right-click on the kX icon in the system tray and then select Settings | Setup Buffers.

If he's not running KX drivers, he doesn't have a KX icon in his tray. From reading his post he is running PAX drivers, so telling him to click on the KX icon is not a solution.
