Problems with sound quality - knocking noise

Hello,

I have installed my old Sound Blaster Live in a newer computer with Windows 7 64-Bit, but now sometimes I have knocking noise when playing MP3s. On my old PC with Windows XP 32-Bit it worked fine with the KX driver...

System:
Mainboard: AMD 870 Chipset
CPU: AMD X6 1090T
GPU: NVidia 9x00 Series
OS: Windows 7 64-Bit SP1 all Updates
Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster Live Player 1024 (named CT4760 10k1 in KX Driver)
Onboard Sound: I have disabled onboard sound in BIOS

I have used the KX driver some years on my WinXP computer, not because I'm a soundfreak, but because the sound quality is better.

On my new computer with Windows 7 64-Bit, i also installed the KX driver.
I only made a minimum installation and didn't make any changes in the driver, mixer, router, ....
I use the rear output of the soundcard and it is connected to my hifi-system.
After installing the driver, i didn't have any sound at all. Therefore I had to change the windows Output. Originally it was set to "Wave Out 4/5" or "Wave Out 6/7". (I'm not sure)
I have changed it to "Master Mixer", which worked.
Please have a look at the attached screenshot.

But now I recognize some knocking noise when playing MP3s. Not everytime and not very heavy, but it bothers me.

Does anybody have an idea on how to solve this?
Is the selected Output "Master Mixer" correct?

Thank you!

Use the SPDIF/AC3 output, Master Mixer is the problem.....

Thanks for your response.
Is using the Digital-Out the only solution?
My HiFi-System doesn't have the interface...

Bye!

I didn't say you needed to use a digital output, using SPDIF/AC3 works perfectly with your analog connection..... Just chose that as default instead of Master Mixer and leave all your hardware as it is now.
