Multi output 5.1

I know the getting the ac3 passthrough might not be going to happen for a while so I have to ask this. Would I be able to get 5.1 sounds using the mini jack cables on the actual sound card. This is a SB live 5.1. My reciever has 6 RCA inputs for just this purpose. My question is, using those outputs would I be able to watch 5.1 movies again?
