kx Driver with E-mu APS: Midi Metronome problem
I sort of tried to post this in the "Midi and Soundfonts" forum, but then I saw that this forum gets more use, so there's a better chance of someone seeing my post here.
I finally upgraded from Cakewalk ProAudio 8 to Sonar 2.2 so I can use it with Windows XP. I had to download the kx driver to use my APS, because there are no other drivers that support it for Windows XP. I'm not happy with the results. However, I spent $572.64 on this sound card at West LA music in 1999, and I don't think I've gotten my money's worth at this point, so I'm not ready to just chuck it and get something else. Here's my problem: No matter what I do, I can't get the Midi metronome to work in SONAR. Does anybody know how to fix this? What I had to do as a work-around was create a shaker Midi track with quarter notes and patch that into a sound-font, and then pan it to the right to keep it from recording on the Left APS channel. (When I had Win98, I was able to record audio tracks with the E-mu APS control without having to pan them to an opposite side from the Midi.) So I guess there are two major problems here: one, the lack of a General Midi output through the kx driver, and two, the inability to record from the audio input directly without having to pan input and output away from each other. Can anybody help me with this? Also, when I click on the "E-Card" button in the kX Mixer, all I see is a blank panel. Thanks, Aaron |

E-Card
I upgraded to the latest driver, and now the E-Card screen works. But I'm still having all the other problems.

Hello Aaron
I use the APS and Sonar 2.2. The kx-drivers works o.k. On the E-card side i see the spdif inputs and the AGC setting, so maybe your card is not recognized by the driver? I have no problems to hear the metronome when I record in sonar. Did you check the setting in the option/ project/metronome dialog? Load a soundfont? The Emu Soundfont are general midi compatible. Good Luck Norbert
