Thumbs Up! Kx Asio Rocks Audigy 2 Ex

Hi,

..and thank you for these drivers. They are beautiful. I just couldn't get my Logic Audio Platinum 5.5 audio recording to work with Audigy 2 own ASIO drivers. After trying just about everything else, I installed KX ASIO drivers and suddenly everything started working just fine! Well, game sounds don't really work anymore but who cares, right?

So...thank you again for this great service you've done us music makers. I'll be sure to put in a donation.

I do have SOME problems though. Deep into a song project, I start getting crackles and out-of-sync-tempo changes. This is not nearly as bad as it was with the Creative drivers, but it's still very annoying and reduces my work efficiency. Logic CPU meter claims that audio CPU load goes pretty high, although my system should be able to handle it.. must be a software problem...unless my 512 MB of RAM is not enough??

Maybe Audigy is not the right card for music makers..

My system:
AMD Athlon @2700
512 MB RAM
Audigy 2 Platinum Ex
Seagate Barracuda 100 GB HD

If I'm not mistaking, Logic audio open ALL ASIO inputs by default or something like that. You might want to try to close the ones you're not using. Also, I don't know which latency setting you are using, but have you tried to set it to a higher setting?

Hey, I knew I saw that somewhere. In the FAQ!

Q. Why am I experiencing serious CPU load when I use kX ASIO driver under Logic?

A. You should try disabling unused kX ASIO inputs and outputs. Logic opens all 16 inputs and 16 outputs by default.

Thanks for the advice, appreciated. Ok, now I spent hours reading up on the stuff...I used the router to disconnect stuff and Logic audio settings to limit inputs+outputs. I dunno if this was the right technique, but I'll get back to you with the results.

What can I say, this was solid advice. No more problems. I'm only using pretty basic stuff though, but so far 4 audio tracks plus 5 audio instruments, no worries. I have uninstalled ALL of Creative's own drivers and everything else. I only have the Kx drivers now. Using the Router was a major improvement for me, a very handy application. You live and you learn. Thanks
