Here's how to get Audigy2 Platinum Ex to work with Kx Drivers
My 2 eurocents worth, here's how I got mine to finally work:
If you are so lucky as not to have installed the Creative software, you are well on the way here, do not install Creative's drivers at all. Never ever install the Mediasource software (DVD player, jukebox etc etc). Don't install anything by Creative. Lock up your Creative install CD in a safe place and forget about it. WINDOWS XP: First, from start -> run, type msconfig and create a system restore point. FOllow the instructions. If you are using Logic Platinum, save your work to a safe place and uninstall all VST instruments, and uninstall Logic Platinum completely. Download and install an invaluable little utility called DriverCleaner. You can download it from http://www.hardwareheaven.com/cleaner/. Close all Creative programs and task bar icons. Go to system hardware settings, remove Audigy and everything related. Uninstall software first by Add/Remove program utility. Find all Creative stuff and uninstall it. Then reboot to safe mode (Hit F8 when windows starts to load and select Safe Mode). Then hit cancel every time Windows tries to install the soundcard. If the soundcard appears in System Hardware Settings list, remove it again and check for any Creative applications/Drivers under Add/Remove programs and remove again. Run DriverCleaner, select "Creative Audio" and select Clean. You may want to run CabCleaner and Clean the corresponding CAB files (Drivers.cab, SP1) but I got an error message from trying to run the SP1 clean and ran into some problems and had to do a system restore and start all over again. I recommend you just clean drivers.cab. Reboot to normal windows. Install Kx drivers, follow the instructions. I did a full install. Now, install Logic Platinum and whatever VST instruments you own. Go to Audio Hardware settings, and select KxASIO if it is not automatically selected for you. Check the Control Panel, mine defaults to 20 ms latency which I can live with. I haven't tried lower latencies anymore, because previously they screwed up Logic completely and I could not run the program anymore. Your mileage may vary. If you are using Logic Platinum 5.5, go to KxDSP, follow the ASIO instructions, rewire your input/output settings so that you can use Logic Audio Hardware settings to limit your input/output number from Max to as little as possible. I limited mine to 4/8 and that seems to work. I used the DSP to completely unload the reverb and other such stuff to free up driver resources. If your KxDrivers work as well as mine, consider donating to the KxProject.
