Hi!

Not really! You could use the front out as the sum out of your audio mix and the rear out as the monitor way. You have only to connect in the DSP-window the rear-out with the source that you also record. This makes it necessary to connect front and rear to an external mixer and then to the main-amplifier.

Any questions more?

Cheers!

rolleyes

Thanks a lot to TravelRec,

Well, I think I'm wrong with the name of the thread.
It should be "simultaneous recording AND monitoring"

I've read that the only way to perform simultaneous recording, from more than one source at the same time, was in Digital Output Only mode, and in this mode, the inputs in the epilog section (DSP window) change: the analog front is automatically muted; and the analog rear out doesn't even exists.
The question is :
How can I hear the audio trough an analog output and perform simultaneous recording at the same time?
Is it possible???

Thanks for your help.
And sorry for the mistake.

Hi!

That´s a little bit unclear... so - recording of more than one track is possible only with the digital INPUTS like SPDIF or COAXIAL (cause only one analog in is available on standard cards). That means NOT the DIGITAL OUTPUT ONLY mode, cause you need the analog outs to hear something and to send monitoring to any different channel as front out. And if you do so, all will work. I´m able to record 6 channels simultaneously with 3 SPDIF interfaces and each of the channels can be monitored at the same time at rear out with a mixer plugin in the DSP. It´s a bit complicated and you will need 3 external A/D-converters (or a second and third soundcard daisy-chained), but if you want, I could give you more details.

Hi again!

I only want to record in four separate tracks(from two stereo analog ins) simultaneously and hear the audio at the same time.

It seems to be impossible to do that without using any A/D or D/A converter and having one card.

If so; how can I chain a second card???
How do I configure them to get the best from both cards???

Thanks.

Hi!

No, only A/D-conversion is necessary to record multiple tracks...

If you want to use a second card: you have to connect one of the digital outs of card one with a cable (2wired) to any digital in of card 2. Note: you can only control one card via ASIO! This means, that the "first" card only makes the A/D - conversion (and maybe some effects) and the second gives you the inputs for your application. If you have cards with AUD_EXT jumper (some Live 5.1 and Audigy 1) then you have many possiblities for chaining. I recommend to browse this forum about chaining cards and this link for looking about connections.

If you have the second card and more questions, please reply here!

Cheers!

Thanks!

Of course I have more questions(DSP window, router, etc) and I'll be contacting you soon.

I've visited the site and I think it's great

Good job and keep working!
