Cubase SX - multiple in/outputs - is this possible?
Hi,
my hair is turning grey now since I am trying to achieve something with the KX DSP and Cubase SX + my E-MU APS which I do not know is possible. Like this: I have an external FX unit. I want to record as normal in Cubase (using the A1/A2 ins), send that information to my FX unit (which is plugged in to the digital in/out on my card) and send it back digitally the same way. _All I want to hear is the processed sound coming back_ and the other tracks which should go through the normal A1/A2 channels. I only want one of my audiotracks to send this to the external unit, hence I can not have all the channels sent this way. Is this possible in any way with my current equipment? Am I making any sense? Help. (Basically what I am asking if is I can send only some channels on the digital in/out and the rest on the analog ones, simultaneously). |

Hi,
it is! You have to draw lines in the DSP-window (right-click kx tray icon -> DSP...) from a FX-Bus out pair (f.e. FXBUS 6/7) to the Epilog out pair of your digital (or analog, if you want) output (f.e. optical/coaxial). Then you have to activate in the cubase master window a second Bus with selected kx out 6/7. In the cubase mixer select BUS2 instead of Master as output. Now your FX-Send-way should work. For return: connect in DSP-window your desired input on Prolog with a pair of ASIO inputs (f.e ASIO3 and ASIO4) on Epilog. Activate the corresponding input in cubase (Audio -> Inputs, make the green light on). To record this channel you have to select with control + right click the input on the little yellow knob in the mixer-strip of your record-track. To hear the FX-return, simply draw lines in DSP also from Prologs in of your FX to analog rear (thats now your monitor channel) or you have to mix it in DSP with a summ plugin (or fx-mix) to analog front (if you don“t have an external mixer unit). So have fun! TravelRec.
