Master volume change when I open certain programs

I have a problem that i s rather annoying: Whenever I start IE or Windows media player (for example) the master volume settings change. Does this problem depend on that the driver always load the default settings when I start these programs?

This phenomenon also happends when I double click on the loudspeaker icon in the system tray. I see both the kx icon end the loudspeaker icon in the system tray.

Can anyone help me?

make sure you use kX Mixer for changing volume, not Windows mixer

Too bad Robert, I have SB Live Value card...

It doesn't matter wether I use the windows or the kx mixer + I've discovered that the volume only changes when I open certain webpages or when I start a movie or something like that. It seems that whenever I start a program that uses the audiocard the master volume automatically changes.

you should unload windows mixer and don't use it at all
use only kX Mixer
don't forget to disable windows mixer icon -- and reboot after that

Thanks! Now it works better! But I don't what to do when I for example want to adjust line in recording level, there's no knob for that in the kx-mixer (or is it?).

And in standard windows programs like windows movie maker I can't record audio via line in on the SB Live card so I have to use the integrated AC97-card for that. Is it possible to do this with my SB live card?

i have the same problem where the volume level changes upon using my tv tuner software... levels get set to zero and i have to readjust them.
can't seem to find a solution to it.

go to run msconfig then find windows mixer during the start up menu in msconfig

right click on 'kX System tray icon'
choose 'multimedia properties'
uncheck 'place volume icon'

does unchecking the "use mixer featurees for this device" disable the kX mixer aswell?

Hmmm, same problem here, the volume changes everytime I start the wmp, ie or simply getting a message in icq (when playing the sample). really strange, i seams to appear everytime the soundcard has to manage two different programs or so.... I tested the driver and got great performance under asio. (live! 5.1 platinum). would hate to drop it because of theis really annoying bug.
btw, there is no sound-icon in my tray, only the kx icon.
