Hi,
I had problem in playing midi file thorugh Kx driver. I got the answer for that question saying" load GM Soundfont". Why do we need External GM soundfont to play midi files. I am using creative SB platinum Live Card. it has built in Midi Synthezier. That is enough for this midi file to trigger those built in samples. Why it requires External GM soundfont for that work?? My question is with reference to underlined threads. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/showthr...&threadid=30568 http://www.hardwareheaven.com/showthr...&threadid=28242 etc. |

cause the "built in samples" arent built in
they're just a pre-loaded soundfont.

Hi Man
Don't worry everything is allright >>>Why do we need External GM soundfont to play midi files It's just a question of downloading size for kx driver A good gm soundfont starts at 8Mb size and can go up to 150Mo and more. So, what do you like best? Download a 2Mb driver and manually load a soundfont of your choice into built in synth like KX Or download a 100Mo drivers like creative anytime there is an update just to have a soundfont automatically loaded. the build in synth is a sampler. Loading a soundbank into a sampler seems quite normal to me Most of Emu10Kx cards users don't use creative default soundfont. Even with creative drivers they have to load manually their own soundfonts. >>>>My question is with reference to underlined threads Your links don't work. what is your second question Bye Vik |
