AC3-in Decode SUCCESS!
Greetings,
Thanks to the 3536rc2 driver, now I can decode AC3 stream from an external SPDIF source. Here's what I did in the master mixer panel: (1) Check "SPDIF-in AC3 decode" box (2) Check "SPDIF bypass" box (3) Select "Coaxial" in P16V (4) Select "OFF" in SPDIF direct recording The driver automatically detects AC3 stream and decode accordingly. I also tried normal PCM and it also detects it without any problem. I got system crashes when I select "Coaxial" in both P16V and SPDIF direct recording, just in case you have the same situation. I use hoontech's DBIII for the SPDIF I/O. Of course I have to do some soldering in order to use the SPDIF_IO header which is not the same as the SPDIF_EXT in SBLive!. However, a simple RCA connector can be added to the SPDIF_IO without the need of +5V supply. Hope my experience helps the kx community! Kelvin |

well, "(1) Check "SPDIF-in AC3 decode" box" should be sufficient in most cases (for 3536rc2 and later)
>> I got system crashes when I select "Coaxial" in both P16V and SPDIF direct recording I'll check that >> Select "OFF" in SPDIF direct recording this is useless, since the option is automatically turned on when the driver detects ac-3 stream >> (2) Check "SPDIF bypass" box in most cases, this shouldn't affect ac-3 decoding either... please check if the (1) tweak works (you may need to re-start kX Mixer before your tests) /Eugene |

Does that mean a 10k SBLive can take in a 48k 24-bit spdif from say, my Lexicon Core2 that only works on Win 9x? (spare computer).
Thanks

doesn't work reliably anymore...
I'm having system crash pretty much 100% of the time when the AC-3 input is detected and decoded for a while. Don't know what happen.
For straight PCM input it doesn't have any problem. Any idea? I'm using 3536 Man, this is a showstopper because I need it to work for my upcoming HDTV box. |
