Is multitrack recording possible with KX?

Hello all!. I'd like to record several tracks at once with
Adobe Audition (former Cool Edit Pro) and a Sound Blaster Audigy. I installed the KX drivers because I thought that would give me separate recording devices selectable in Audition, but I just get to see one.

Is it a limitation of the KX Drivers or the Sound Blaster Audigy itself?.

I know I can record from several sources into one track, but what I want is do live recording of several tracks at once in separate WAV files.

Thanks for your answers!

I don't know about Audition. But in Sonar I can choose to record from any of the analog or digital inputs per track. The most I have done as far as multi-tracking is splitting the left and right channels of the input on the SBLive and routing each to an output of my mixing board. Then assigning one track to the each channel. So I've tracked 2 simultaneously.

The number of simultaneous tracks is limited by your setup. Using 2 SBlives hooked together with and SPDIF cable I can record 4 simultaneous tracks. I don't think my system could could handle a 3rd sound card but others up here have recorded 6 and maybe 8 simultaneous tracks.

Do you have a Live Drive?

Yes, I have the Audigy Platinum with its internal drive.
So you're telling me I can only record a single stereo track? (or two mono tracks).

I think all the connectivity in the Audigy drive is a bit pointless if you can't use all the connections at once and record each input in a separate track, not mixed all into one.

About Sonar, I haven't tried it. So you can record separate tracks with it using multiple connectons at once with that application?. I'll give it a try.

SB live platinum 5.1 card with livedrive lets me record 6 analog inputs at once , all on seperate tracks. you need to use KxASIO, not wdm driver mode. ASIO apps such as nuendo and cubase, or sonar 2.2, or sonar 3 work.

Hi

>>> 6 analog inputs at once

So what connectors do you plug?

2 mono ins (stereo mix of "ac97" mic/line and line out, rear connectors).

2 mono ins (Mic2/line2 "I2S" livedrive front connector)

2 mono ins (aux2 "I2S" livedrive front connector)

Am I correct?

If you got digital mixer like 01V with separate digital out
can you go on with digital inputs?

2 mono ins (spdif livedrive front connectors)
2 mono ins (spdif CD spdif internal soundcard connector)
2 mono ins (spdif Aud_ext internal soundcard connector)

I'm not sure if it is possible simultaneously with analog recording.

Well I have a question for people who want to record max simultaneous separate tracks and don't have LiveDrive I2S line ins and outs.

Considering there is an "I2S in" on the aud_ext connector, is it possible to use it to achieve 2 analog mono separate tracks more or a better quality?
If no why can't we?

vikflash, the connectors I use are, 'line in' which is stereo (do not use stereo mix of ac97 !), 'aux in 2' on livedrive which is 2 more inputs, and 'line in 2' on livedrive which is stereo. so that gives 6 separate analog inputs simultaniously. u can separate the stereo inputs to 2 mono inputs with the appropriate connectors.

cya.

Thanks for your replies!.
I tried Sonar with the ASIO drivers option activated and now I can use all the recording devices, using each one of them (or left/right only) in a separate track.

It's a pity that Adobe Audition doesn't support ASIO drivers, since it's such a great multitrack audio app!.

Thanks to everyone who replied!

So I was right about connections

>>>>>>do not use stereo mix of ac97 !

ac97 manages all rear and internal analog inputs

1 line in or a mix of 2 lines in managed by ac97. It is the same talking about quality

>>>>>>It's a pity that Adobe Audition doesn't support ASIO drivers

all audio softs come to it
It's gonna come soon

Nobody answered my other questions. I'm gonna start a new thread.
