CD SPDIF confussion!

Hello again,

I've made a little box that connects the CD SPDIF on my SB0001 to a phono connection. I can't seem to get any sound coming out but I do have a SPDIF icon appear in the bottom right of the screen. What does this mean?

I am using RAW SPIDF from the output of my DVD player.

Opps. I mean RCA connections (I always get confused with connection names).

Is it only connections

I don't know about raw SPDIF compatibility with KX spdif in but may be it should work.
What is tyour soundcard model
Did put up the good slider in kx mixer in and out page?

Hi bean100!

You are able to connect standard SPDIF signals (consumer format) to the CD-SPDIF input. This can be 44,1 kHz, 48kHz or 96kHz SPDIF Audio or an AC3 Stream. To be on the safe side you should decouple the signal that is coming from outside of the computer to avoid static damage or ground loop noise. If you have a coaxial signal is is necessary to fit the level over a special input circuitry to get nominal TTL levels, since the CD-SPDIF is a TTL level compatable input (positive logic). If you have optical signals a simple optical receiving module (TORX series) makes this job. Suggestions for this are available at:

www.electricstart.de (in the electronics section).

So, I don´t know what´s the meaning of RAW SPDIF so I think that SPDIF is a standardized format for itself. Please give more details about it, if you have.

I think he means he has an external CD Drive, and has connected the 2 digital outpins to and RCA connector, and then connected it to his card.

He could be facing 1 of 2 (or both) problems
1. He connected the RCA connector the wrong way round - signal to ring, ground to centre
or
2. The S/PDIF inputs in the I/O window of the mixer are muted

RCA connectors are sometimes called Phono connectors as they are mono cables, just like phono jacks (6.5/3.5mm)
