Pissed Removing KX Driver and Re-Installing Audigy Drivers Cures...

My Logic Platinum 5.5 System Freezing Problem!!

So it is the fault of the KX Drivers!!

Thought you'd like/need to know!

If there are any suggestions please?! As once the KX Drivers are set up properly, they are waaaayyy better than WDM!

Thanks!!!

Smilie

Yep, used Norton, and System Mechanic..... I un-installed/re-installed, updated and everything!! In EVERY combination I could think of!!!

It ALWAYS froze my system, until I went back to the Audigy Drivers. (SOOOOO MUCH tinkering with settings.....) Almost as much as all the cleaning between install/re-installs!!!!!

Works fine here. Are you using a P4 HT machine?

No, Athlon XP1700 1.5, XP Home SP1, 256mb RAM, SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 (w/upgraded Audigy Drivers)... blah blah.... !!!

Logic worked before I changed drivers, and again when I changed back!!

I was hoping to get away w/removing Logic, but as a member of the Global Audio Foundation, I may need it, as world-wide members use different audio applications !

Hi KickAstronaut, I think your PC ist too slow and your RAM is not enough. If I have open Cubase SX with 3 VSTi Instruments, it uses 187 MB of RAM.

Hi,

I use many different programs to get the end result in my recordings and I once had Logic on my system. I have removed it, not because of kX drivers, but because Logic itself has many bugs.

One big one...open Windows XP's cpu meter and start Logic. Now in the Logic screen click and hold the left mouse button down for a few seconds. You can do this almost any where on the Logic screen. The XP cpu meter will jump to 100% usage and if you hold down long enough the screen will flicker and act eratic.

Logic is now part of Apple Computer and will only be updated for the Mac. That is a large BUG for PC users.

Why not use stable software like Cubase SX or Sonar Producer 3. Both love kX ASIO.

If Logic were the only choice you have then use the driver that works with it, other wise uninstall Logic and use software that is being updated on a regular basis for the PC. You know the rate of change and Logic has already fallen behind the leaders in sequencers.

My Solution...

I have obtained Cubase SX2, Sonar 3.1 Producer Ed. recently. Only on occasion do I need Logic. I have a Terretec Phase 88 soundcard on order.... now I can drop my old four-track cassette demos to the digital realm!!!
