kXi not working (it would seem)

hi,
I'm using automation on a track in cubase sx2 successfully by sending midi to "kX Control" Midi device.
I want to switch to using kXi because I understand it has the extra feature of being able to save and restore DSP and SF states automatically with the VST project.
I have loaded KXi as a VST instrument.
I have created a track with kXi as it's output.
I put the same automation data in the track as before but it does not work.

(The VSTi edit window is indicating midi reception, so I know kXi is recieving data, If I re-enable the "kX Control" track I hear the effect being modulated, so I know "both ends" are working).
Also the SF's and DSP page are not being restored on a VST project load.
Is there an issue with multiple kX cards when using kXi?
The is almost zero documentation on kXi particularly the save/restore feature.
I will be happy to write some narrative text to help with the kx doco but I need to get it working
first.

ok, I retested and automation is working but with the wrong card.
There seems to be no way of choosing which card the kXi is sending data to.
Also the environment save/restore is still not working for me.

yes, this is a limitation of the present kX VSTi
however, (I'm unsure since I don't remember) kX VSTi uses currently selected device (in the kX Mixer)
re-starting your VSTi host might prove that

you should open the mixer for the card you are using in the VST host, ie if u have a live and an audigy, and you use the audigy, select the audigy in the drop down box in the bottom-right corner of the mixer

I can confirm that on my system kXi auto and DSP is saved with the VST project.

However, only with my second card (the one that is ennumerated first in my system a CT4670 ).
Activating the button in the VSTi Edit window always brings up the kx automation page for the CT4670.
If I select and set my other card SB0060 it does not recieve automation, even if I have a seperate kXi instance loaded.
Soundfont state is not saved in either case

As a feature request I would like to see:
1. A selector button on the VSTi Edit window that allows users to choose (and see) which card kX auto data is being directed to.
2. The Soundfont state to be saved as well.

I suppose kXi is not an item of high demand from the user community, otherwise there would be more interest in this feature generally. From my point of view, it is critical to tight music project integration that the VST concept generally delivers.
For what it is worth to the kX development team, I would be very happy to thoroughly test and provide user documention if more work can be done on kXi.
