6.1, 7.1 channel analog output?

Is there a way to configure kx drivers to allow 6.1 or 7.1 channel output? I think that the audigy 2 supports 6.1 and the zs supports 7.1.

The kx speaker setup only allows you to choose up to 5.1 speakers.

I have an audigy 2 and have been trying to get 6.1 analog output with windvd and powerdvd and the kx drivers, but I have not yet been able to.

Thanks!

I too would like to have 6.1 and 7.1 enabled, but for audigy1 (and live?) cards. I know they are not supposed to be able to support this, but the cards do have 8 channel outputs...

It would be great to use that for windvd/powerdvd, games and windows media 9.

If it's just a case of presenting the outputs somewhere on the FX bus, it should be possible to route that to the right place (I2C?)

Right now, if I enable 7 or 8 speaker in windvd, I get a downmixed 2 channel output at the 0/1 outputs of the fx bus. I guess the driver would also need to tell the system it's a 7.1 instead of a 5.1 card.

Thanks for the great drivers

Re: 6.1, 7.1 channel analog output?

Those speaker modes are available in Surrounder+ for those cards that support it.

For other card models, you can enable it (8 point surround) manually in kX Console (though I am not sure what the point is (other than (maybe) testing)).

To enable:
shw 20 1

To disable:
shw 20 0

Note: This only effects how audio enters the DSP.

Re: 6.1, 7.1 channel analog output?

Hey Russ,
What I'm trying to figure out is how to get the 4 pairs of wav outs to the 4 pairs of physical analog outs on the card. Our only way out of the card is with epilog or k2lt. Neither of these cards reference the left and right side. I can do this with the Creative drivers with ASIO but want to use KX.
Is there any info on the surrounder+
Thanks
BTW I'm a musician and want to have multiple outs go to a hardware mixer from my recording program.

Re: 6.1, 7.1 channel analog output?

I see... the info in my last post is related to multichannel sources only. You should not have to do anything special (other than an appropriate DSP config) to use the the 4 kX Wave devices (or ASIO outputs, etc).

BTW: What OS are you using? Routing of stereo audio from Wave 0/1 (Master Mixer) is broken in Vista/7, and thus will not work as expected (you could use the SPIDF/AC3 output instead).

Re: 6.1, 7.1 channel analog output?

Russ,
Win XP here. I ordered the cable. From what you said and what I find it should work as my card does support 7.1. The 4 pairs of wav outs show up in the recording program drivers list. It was just a matter of figuring how to get the wav files out of the card.I did find this nice thread though. I apologise for forgetting to do a search first.
