Wave routing

I have installed the kX driver, and I am using a new Soundblaster Live 5.1 digital card. The objective is to get a clean sound path from my application (which uses the wave API) to the analogue outputs. However, regardless of whether I output to Wave 4/5, Wave 6/7 or Wave 8/9 the output always routes to the same physical output (the black jack). Further, the two setreo halves are mixed together (some sort of 3D enhancement ?) so there is almost 100% crosstalk.
I know my wave output works, since it works fine on an old soundblaster card (pre surround sound) with perfect channel separation.
I am not an audio or music engineer, just a humble programmer - what have I done wrong ?

Many thanks in advance,

Denville.

PS The OS is XP Pro, bags of memory. Installation appeared to go fine.

the key is "surrounder" module - you can launch it via "kx->kxmixer->master->speaker_setup" or "kx->effects->surrounder"... well, you will see what should be done then (i guess that "5.1 Direct Path" preset will do the trick)

Max, many thanks for the reply.

I now have channel routing (ie I can separate Wave 4/5 from 6/7 from 8/9) but I still have what appears to be 100 % crosstalk on the stereo whereas I need a 'clean' output on each stereo half. I have the Surrounder set to the 5.1 Direct Path as you suggested. I have tried changing all sorts of parameters but I can't get rid of the crosstalk.

Thanks again for your help,

Denville.

hmm. do you mean you have 100% crosstalk between left and right channels?

Wave routing

Yes, exactly. I can't be sure it is 100% crosstalk, I haven't looked at it on a 'scope, but it sounds like an identical mono mix coming from each (L/R) channel. Just to confirm, the separation of the individual wave channels is perfect. Also, I do know that my software is providing properly separated L/R as I can monitor it on an old soundcard with perfect separation (it also works fine in service in several locations).

Kindest regards,
Denville.
