Yet another Microphone problem from a noob

Sorry guys, I know there are a ton of threads on this, but I am just not getting mine setup right :/. I can get it to playback through my speakers, but can't get any recording done in any of the many apps I use for that winamp, vent, msn, half-life, ect. Here are screenshots of the 4 pages in the mixer that are noramlly talked about for getting the microphone working. Please let me know what I got wrong. Thank you very much for your help.

edit: btw is there away to scale all audio down. I am using headphones and even with master volume 6% many things are too loud! It woudl be nice if I can move the range down so I can get more precision with that setting (liek 0-20% currently being expanded to 0-100%)

at "ac97" page of kxmixer choose mic as source, and enable "ac97" at "recording" page.

SB0090 if that makes any diffrence

All I can say is that it should work this way. As it works on my SB0060.

I reset ac97 and set it liek you said and it worked....must have messed up some setting before....still wonder waht it was.
