Clicks-3537-Win98SE
I reported this in the BUG forum but was curious if any other Win 98SE uses are hearing clicks in playback (version 3537).
After trying all sorts of fix attempts; latency/buffer/PCI latency adjustments, I switched things over to a different computer-same problem. I then uninstalled 3537 and installed 3534f and the clicks seem to have gone away. It was 2am when I finally got everything going on the other computer so my ears were maybe not all that great but I think everything is fine now and I will just stick with this version for a bit. Anyone else have clicking problems? Doug |

let's try to verify if the bug was really caused by particular kX version
install 3537 -package- (not 'driver') install 3534f -driver- reboot unload kX Mixer copy all the 3538 release .dll / kxl / exe files to your windows\system folder -- overwrite any existing files copy 3538's kx98.sys to your \windows\system32\drivers folder under the name 'kx.sys' (if you cannot do that due to file protection error, reboot in Safe mode) open regedit delete the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\kX reboot this should 'update' the driver 'transparently' without modifying any system parameters (including IRQs etc...) let me know if this configuration still causes problems /Eugene |

Eugene,
I'll give that a try tonight and report back. By the way, where can I find the 3538 files that you are talking about? I didn't know 3538 was out yet. Doug Last edited by Doug W; Mar 13, 2004 at 02:01 AM. |

Er, ahem, well, cough cough,
This turns out to be a case of operator stupidity. I think in the process of messing around with 3 different sound cards, I inadvertantly selected, in the ASIO control panel, a sound card other than the RECEIVING card as the ASIO card. This routed the playback of all audio through the SPDIF OUTPUT of one of the cards to the SPDIF INPUT of the card that, at least in my head, was supposed to be the main ASIO card. Once I reselected the proper card in the ASIO control panel the clicking went away. So in case anyone out there is using multiple cards and is as dumb as I am, here is the my setup with the card names as selected by KX: CT4871==>SPDIF cable==>CT4831<==SPDIF cable<==CT4832 In this case, CT4831 needs to be the card selected in the ASIO control panel. Sorry about that, Doug |

I'm glad everything's fine now
btw, I meant '3537', not '3538', but since I'm currently working on 3538... a small misprint ![]() /E |
