KX drivers and Longhorn

I have been testing KX Drivers on a test machine running Longhorn build 4053 and it seems that the drivers are compatible with it so far. The machine is a PIII 733 copermine with 640 megs of ram. The card is an Audigy SB0090 running v3537.

Peace ...............

i would have thought this would be the case, as longhorn is based on the same technology as 2000 and XP so the driver architecture should be the same

There wasn't too much of a difference at all, but the install was alot different as far as driver part went. Had an issue with loading a large sound font that I can normally load in XP but I have a feeling longhorns memory is being used by a lot of bloated services that I hadn't looked at yet. Also, there were and still are a few isolated pauses in the OS when a sound is playing, doesnt happen all the time though.

Peace

these issues may be based on the unstability of the beta vs. of longhorn, the only way to know for sure is to wait for longhorn to go gold, and then we also findout what its salename is

Unfortunatly, the install of CubaseSX was a no go, not because of the sound card however. Longhorn refused to let rewire install so Cubase never had a chance to finish the install. Sonar on the other hand ran fine with both wdm and asio recording and did fine with vsti's and other.

Weird thing though, I am not sure what the version of directx is in Longhorn, but I ran two games across it. One being Halo, that did not work claiming dx 9b wasnt installed. But Freelancer ran without a hitch, and for some odd reason, it ran alot faster in Longhorn then in XP.

Another thing I did notice, Midi playback seemed to be alot better sounding in Longhorn. There did not seem to be alot of dropped sounds during soundfont playback as in XP. and the notes being played were alot brighter.

Longhorn also refused to install the joystick driver of kx but I did install the creative version of the driver. That didnt seem to hinder any external midi devices in Sonar.

All I have at the moment........Peace all

hmm for drirectx issues, it may be neta of a new version, one that doesn't quite register with halo, and for the joystick driver i don;t think it would matter which one you used
soundfont playn better makes me believe that there is a better soundfont driver loaded with longhorn

Weird thing about the joystick driver was it did install the kx's version the first time I installed Longhorn, On a second install on the same machine, it didnt want to install it at all. As far as the soundfont's go, next time Im at my test machine I'll pull the sfman.dll file and see what version it is.
