Hi All,
I attempted to change my playback to 24 bit by switching to FxbusX in the DSP. I did it exactly as Eugene suggested in the Forum: Reset Settings, Unload Fxbus, load FxbusX and connect it exactly as Fxbus was connected. It seemed to work. My question is: Is there a way to check if the sound is playing back in 24 Bit? Also is there a way to get a cleaner signal from the Mic or Line in. There seems to be a lot of noise. My System is: Windows XP Home Audigy 2 SB0240 Intel Celeron Processor (2.5 ghz) Nvidia 5200 128 mg Video Card 1 gig 2700 DDR Ram KX 3537 Final Pioneer 24/96 Audio Video Receiver (Connected by way of Digital out of the Audigy to Digital in of Receiver) Sonar 3 Producer Gigastudio 2.54 Thanks, DK-1 |

the noise is caused by the ADC, you can try the noisegate plugin tho for DSP
to test for 24 playback, you really need another computer or card that can record at 24 and then check to see whether it is any different than recording at 16

if you use a livedrive or audigydrive you'll have 10db less of noise, because their inputs are of better quality then the inputs in the card itself.

24 Bit Playback
Much thanks for the reply. I thought the Audigy 2 was capable of recording at 24 bit. Why would I need another card to test for 24 playback? When I record using Sonar 3, I have Sonar set to 24 bit. It seems as though I am recording in 24 bit. Thanks

Where the FxbusX should be set, before or after microcode?

Sonar is saving a 24bit format file, but that doesn't mean its using all the 24bits for audio data... The last 8 bits (or first, don't know) are probably all zeros... i.e., they sound just like 16-bit although the file size is 50% bigger....
