Hi, i've been using kX drivers for over a year and I think it r0x
Tho, I've had a little problem with the drivers lately on my 2nd computer.. I got a SBlive 5.1 in that comp, been using kx since last re-installation. There is a little problem, when I try to install kX, it install fine and all... but when I reboot, I get sound for a sec, then the mixer icon appear in systray. All of sudden sounds stop, I check the Mixer settings.. And I notice that the digital output only checkbox is checked. I try to uncheck it and it doesn't want to .. All other checkbox work fine... I've tried edit a kx preset with a hex editor. and change the DOO 0x01 to 0x00 ... still get the damn checkbox checked.. I re-install CL drivers.. sounds come back... I wonder if there's a command with kxctrl that i can use... Desperatly yours, Hydromel

remove everything related to CL and KX and install KX again. Sounds like a bad install problem...

I get the exact same problem, and I've tried reinstalling numerous times.
Digital Output Only won't turn off, no matter how many times I reboot, reinstall, or fiddle with settings. I switched to Creative drivers for a while because of this, but want KX's vastly superior quality on a 2.1 setup (downmixing is -wonderful-). Any ideas of what this could be? I can't think of anything that would conflict, though I've also noticed recently that when changing any setting like that, or loading the drivers, there's a -really- long pause in kxmixer and a lot of lag presents. Some time ago, there was only a second or two of lag, and generally no major system lag. But does anyone have idea what all of this could be? I really want KX drivers to work!

Not that I know of, no. I've deleted ALL of the files, and followed the uninstall guide, AND used Driver Cleaner v3.

I just replied to this because someone else had had the exact same problem.
I think I found a way to get around it, though. If I quit kxmixer, and delete the registry settings, uninstall the device, reboot, shutdown the computer with complete powerdown, start it back up, install the KX driver again, and rebuild all of the settings from scratch without the existing settings file, it'll work. Any other combination (it'd seem) and it'll just get 'stuck again'. Apparently it's some odd combination that's issuing an incorrect command to the hardware with these drivers? It might be interesting to pick apart the settings file to see if there's anything weird, because simply loading it even after getting it to be 'clean' again will have the same effect. This is really odd because effectively there's no difference in one setup vs. the other.
