Control subwoofer volume
I recently started using the kx drivers instead of the Creative drivers for my Audigy (1) Platinum. I really like them. There's only one thing: I have a 4.1 speaker setup so the subwoofer output hasn't got its own connection. It's just two standart connections. So I can't control the subwoofer redirection (or can I?) but in the old creative drivers (I used hacked Audigy2 ones) I could control the volume of the subwoofer alone, something I can't do with kx appearantly. Am I doing something wrong? How can I use kx and control the subwoofer volume?
Thanks. |

hmm me thinks dsp routings⦠freq splitter, sending the bass channel to a seperate mixer channel and reducing that and then sending the mixed bass and treble to the outputs?

I'm still new to the whole configurable DSP thing. I went to the DSP window and it's real confusing. How are you supposed to know which cable and/or slot is which? Maybe you can direct me to a good tutorial about kx's DSP? I found one before but it was really unclear and didn't explain it well.

Sorry for interfering in your thread but I'm having the same problems.
I have a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 with Altec Lansing 5100 (5.1 setup) speakers. When this exact setup was on my roommates computer, the bass from the sub was amazing and sounded nice a lound, clean hits, etc (I'm a big bass fan). However, once I hooked his sound card and speakers onto my computer, the bass is nothing like on his computer. How can I properly control the bass? I'm new to kX too so a more detailed explaination would help. Thanks in advanced. Chris EDIT -- I finally found the proper way to set these drivers up. Now the bass is pretty much how I remembered it on my roommates computer. For those who are still looking for the proper solution, do a search for the phase plugin and the UFX plugin made by Max, I believe. I found all my solutions by just searching for "bass" and it returned plenty of threads giving solutions. Last edited by nugz; May 5, 2004 at 11:52 PM. |

First of all - if your speakers connect only with 2 cables you'll never have a dedicated subwoofer channel. Bass redirection should be disabled in this case. If you need more bass, your only option would be to use an equalizer plugin. However, if your sub has a dedicated cable (all 5.1 systems do), then you can control the volume of the sub separately (you'll probably want to use bass redirection in this case). A gain plugin should do the trick.

Just curious as I'm trying to learn DSP but where would you locate the Gain plugin on the DSP (using UFX I'd assume)?

located it between two modules, depending on what you want to control
an input - straight after the input master - right before the epilog
