Random(?) Lockups in Cubase
I am having problems using kX with Cubase SX 2.
The program suddenly refuses to play back what I've recorded (just MIDI so far) and goes into this erratic behaviour. The symptoms are always the same: Upon pressing PLAY, the music starts, plays a bar or two, then stops. During the few seconds of playback, the position indicator doesn't move. Then, silence (sometimes preceded by choppy sound). This happens after I've added a couple of tracks (not many, three perhaps) and having one or two VST's loaded. I don't think the problem is lack of CPU power, since everything works fine until I make a small change (adding a track or whatever). If I start up a new project with just one track, everything runs smoothly. I realize that this must be a very hard question, but does anyone have a clue as to what the problem might be? The only thing I want to do is: use kX for minimizing the latency using ASIO, so that I can run a project with a handful of VST machines, a handful of soundfonts and some regular MIDI input. That should be possible, right? Mind you, I have not been doing any serious setting changes to Cubase. Maybe there's certain steps that need to be taken in order for this to work? I checked to see that the latency is set to 10 ms and the sample rate is at 48 KHz. Other than that, everything seems to me like a mess of input and output devices from left to right... ...and I've not even started recording audio yet! That day will be interesting. I have a SB Live! Player 1024, the latest version of kX, a 2.0 Ghz CPU and lots of drive space. Thanks! /Komet |

Should be and is possible...
Been using KX and CubaseSx for quiet a while and I haven't had any of the behaviors you're having. Make sure that when you go into cubase's asio setup that creative's asio drivers arent there. Also did you update to cubase sx 2.02? As far as recording in your other thread, just open KX DSP and for wave and midi drag the recL&R and on the router to any of the ASIO ports. |

The other (creatives) ASIO drivers ARE in the list, but they are not selected. If this is a problem, maybe I did a poor job uninstalling Creative's drivers.
>just open KX DSP and for wave and midi drag the recL&R and on the router to any of the ASIO ports Sorry, I don't understand. Please tell me exactly what to do. I can't find any rec L&R settings in the DSP (or the router for that matter). Last edited by Komet; Apr 7, 2004 at 01:15 AM. |

Sometimes having creatives asio drivers installed can cause issues. To get rid of them just open a command promt and go to your system32 folder and type regsrv32 /u ctasio.dll
