Logic is crawling .. I need some help.

Hello, i have a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 with Kx drivers. I've installed Logic Audio 5.5.1 and i set the audio driver configurations correctly. I did what you guys recommended here, Minimum of inputs and outputs.. I did everything. But, Everytime i open logic - if i press on a menu, it takes about a minute to open, everything i do, from clicking a button or playing an instrument takes minutes. Hell, how did i open an instrument? It took me a long long time to do so. Anyway, someone know how to solve it? Logic is crawling, and its so slow that it's.. Not reacting! Someone have an idea what should i do to solve this problem? Thanks!

My PC is:

AMD Athlon XP 1800+
Gigabyte 7VRXP Rev 2.0
768MB DDR 333MHz
Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 with KX Drivers
Geforce4 Ti4200

check if you have some cpu cooling software enabled or another software which is taking up resources (check it with ctrl+alt+del).

check HDD usage if possible… if you have a slow HDD or really fragmented (can be seen with LOOOONG boot times) this may affect logic… run the defrag tool a couple of times and then try to run logic

Guys, my HDD (Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM) is working great and im keeping it in good shape, and im not having anything special running besides Logic.
But - you guys are right - im using a virtual midi keyboard with MIDI Yoke. Logic is taking something like 50-80 percent of CPU usasge when im doing nothing!
So, the problem is the MIDI Yoke?

Ok, i've uninstalled the MIDI Yoke drivers and Logic worked perfectly!

Anyway, i want to know - how can i use a virtual midi port and logic? What is the solution? Thanks!

try using midi yoke with the lowest number of virtual midi required… that will release the resources that would otherwise be wasted

Midi yoke

hmmm.. I've been trying to figure that one out for a while. Anyone know how to use virtual midi ports with logic on XP?

Hubi's works with logic but not with XP
Midyoke works with XP but freezes logic..

One trick is to disable auto synchonization (accessible from the playback panel) in logic then save the song as autoload.lso in logic's install folder.

The other which i think is more usefull is to tell logic what ports not to grab. On C:\windows\win.ini there is a logic section. It enumerates the computer's midi in and out ports. I think if its equals 1 the port is used, if it equals 7 it is not. So if you have, say midi yoke 4 out enabled, dont enable midi yoke 4 in or logic will feedback

Thanks for the help!

Anyway, Miguel, i tried the second trick and it did'nt work out. I even tried to block all of the midi ports there.. Still nothing. I find it a better solution, because the first one isn't really a solution .. It's like running away from the problem. Heh. Anyway, thanks.
But, someone got another idea? Maybe i did something wrong?
Oh, oh, by the way! How can i configure MIDI Yoke to have only in midi port in and one out? By Default, it's making 8 ports. But, how can i change it to 1? when im going to the driver settings, i can't change it - the field is for reading only. I can change it by editing the registry?

And if i disable all of the in/out ports - it should work? (Just for testing - the tip did'nt help me. Dunno why.)

UPDATE: I disabled the ports using '0' and not '7' and it worked! But i still have little problems .. ehh.
